At 11:30pm Dec. 21, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue units responded to a mobile home fire in Riverview. The address was 10809 McMullen Rd. Upon arrival, HCFR crews found a double wide mobile home with heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof. There were two adults and their two dogs inside the home at the time of the incident that exited the home safely.
Fire Rescue crews entered the residence with their hose lines to attack the fire. After ten minutes of fighting the fire inside the residence, crews had to evacuate due to the home no longer being stable and at risk of roof collapse. Firefighters continued to battle the flames from outside the home and a truck company was used as well to attack the fire from above until the fire was completely extinguished.
The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the displaced adults with food, shelter and clothing. The Fire investigator was also called to the scene to conduct an investigation and after a complete investigation the fire was determined to be accidental in nature. There were no reports of injuries to civilian of fire rescue personnel.
